To start with could you introduce yourself and tell us who you play for and what position you play?

AL – my name is Alex, I play for boldmere st michaels women and my position is left back.

How would you describe yourself as a player in three words to anyone who doesn’t know who Alex liddiard is?

AL – Determined, consistent and COMMITTED!

What has been your history in football before joining Boldmere Women?

Al – i played for aston villa centre of excellence (now known as the rtc), stoke cit centre of excellence, new york institute of technology on a soccer SCHOLARSHIP, burton albion ladies. before joining birmingham & West midlands ladies last season (now known as boldmere st michaels women)

You not only do alot on the pitch for Boldmere women but also off the pitch, can you explain what your roles and job is off the pitch at Boldmere?

al – my official title is sales & marketing manager but im involved in various aspects of the running of the club.

Alot of changes for Boldmere Women since the season was called null and void, how excited are you to get underway as Boldmere Women this season?

al – we’re very excited for the season. we’ve been training hard in preseason despite all the RESTRICTIONS in place due to corona virus. and we are hoping for a very successful campaign.

How did you keep yourself busy during the lockdown break? mentally and physically? 

al – i created a mini gym in my garage and as a team we were both fitness and skills challenges each week. i also had lots of game nights with family and zoom socials.

For people that have never seen Boldmere Women play before what can they expect?

al – great team spirit, lots of attacking football and goals (we scored almost 90 goals last season) 100% commitment and a friendly and welcoming ENVIRONMENT.

After last years campaign Boldmere (FORMERLY Birmingham West Midlands) had a successful season with a newly formed squad, what do you think was so key to having such a good season?

al – hard work, a positive ENVIRONMENT both on and off the pitch, and a strong squad of players.

What are your aims and targets for the new and upcoming season? PERSONALLY and with the team?

al – personally – my targets are to get more goals and assists than last season, to continue to develop as a player and to help the achieve promotion. as a team, our main target is promotion and i fully believe with the squad and coaches we have, we are more than capable of achieving this.

With the Midlands Divison One improving each and every season how excited are you to get the 2020/21 season underway?

al – we’re very excited after having such a long break without competitive football.
