My choice for my own team of the season for the Northern Premier League in 2020/21 season that came to an unornate early curtailing with a second null and void season in a row due to Covid. I didn’t get to see as many games and as many teams as I would of liked or normally got too so there is many players I would of included but was unlucky not too see play with names such as Neve Herron and Faye McCoy always in the running but didn’t get to see those teams. But also in the teams I did see I had a shortlist of many players for many positions but to get it down to 11 is always a tough choice. On Manager choice again a few made the shortlist but can only pick one. Hopefully third time lucky will be that we get a full season and a true finish and outcome to the season.

Daniela Kosinska

Stoke City – P8 – A1

Stoke City’s number one, the Polish stopper is my choice for goalkeeper simply because she is such a key player. Anyone who has seen a Stoke City game this year will see just how many important and fantastic saves she makes to keep the team in games. As well as a cheeky assist against Middlesbrough for Lizzie Steele.

Ria Elsmore

WEst Brom – P7

West Brom’s Vice Captain, Ria Elsmore is a player that always get’s on with her job without too much fuss at the back. For me Ria is playing the best football i’ve seen since we first saw her at Aston Villa Development. A confidence in her play is a big part to West Brom being so high up in the League as well. Also a pleasure to hear her story on Switch Sports Podcast.

Ellie Bohannan

Stoke City – P5 – G1

Ellie joined later in the season when a few games had been played. But Ellie covered at Right Back in the beginning and showed that she can play all across the backline if needed too. But has really slotted into her CB role in the games coming up to the finish of season. Solid and dependable but with a wealth of knowledge on and off the pitch that also helps the team grow and improve.

Hayley James

Nottingham Forest – P7 – G3

One player that always impresses when get to see Nottingham Forest play is Hayley James, her work rate and engine never seems to be lacking as her eye for goal as well. Hayley will win the ball back on the edge of her own box and drive single handedly towards the oppositions box to turn defence into attack but isn’t afraid to get back from that attack as well and put the effort in.

Georgia Hewitt

Nottingham Forest – P8 – G3

Georgia always is someone that I look to see on the line up because you know you will get 110% from whistle to whistle. A real genuine and hardworking team player. Like Hayley she has an eye for goal and isn’t afraid to run the channels. Another player and person it’s a joy to see play and have on Switch Sports Podcast.

Fran Orthodoxou

West Brom – P7 – G1

Now with Coventry United in the division above just goes to show her talent and skill as she doesn’t look like she is out of her depth but is taking the bull by the horns. But for West Brom you always knew in the Centre of the pitch a lioness would chase you down if you didn’t have the ball and do everything in her power to make sure that you didn’t have the ball or time on the ball. A player again that always looked forward to seeing play.

Sophie Tudor

Nottingham Forest – P7

Wearing number 16, I once mentioned to her she plays like Roy Keane and mentioned that is why she wears the number 16. A real hard working midfielder, plays like a throwback a real tough and always fights hard to win the ball back for Nottingham Forest and get them back into possession when they don’t have the ball. A player that works tirelessly and doesn’t always get the credit she deserves in the position she plays.

Mia Walters

Loughborough Foxes – P8

In the games I got to see Mia Walters play she was a shining light on and off the ball for Loughborough Foxes. A player with pace and skill, she would drive the team forward, hold the ball up and try and look for a team mate to set up. Also a player that never gave up even when her team wasn’t on the winning side alot.

Roisin Kivel

Stoke City – P5 – G2

Literally my favourtie player to see play during this season. Sometimes find it hard to understand how she isn’t used as much as it feels she should be. But every time she is on the pitch, Roisin can pick the ball up and drive at a defence while they can’t win the ball back off her. Many games she came off the bench and changed the game, with opposition fans also mentioning her and the way she plays after the game. Not afraid to get in the goals as well as try to set up her team mates.

Tyler Dodds

Middlesborough – P8 – G3

Even though she plays in Italy now, which again shows her talent and her form while she was playing in the Northern Premier League. But the games I got to see Tyler in, she was truly different level. A player with the ball at her feet was any defenders nightmare as she drives and pushes them onto the back foot. Scores some absolute screamers as well for Boro along the way.

Alison Hall

Stoke City – P6 – G1

There isn’t always words to describe Ali Hall as a person and a player. But i think work effort and heart are two good descriptions of her at all times on and off the pitch. Was unlucky to get a concussion that saw her final game against Middlesbrough and season come to an early end. But always such a key player for Stoke City, another player that works her socks off and them some throughout every minute of every game.

Louis Sowe

West Brom – P9 – W5

Louis has proved this season with his team sitting in 3rd position in the table. After 9 games that he was doing a fantastic job in getting out  of his players on and off the pitch. Wins over Sunderland and Nottingham Forest had proved that the Baggies were going to be in and around the battle for the title as the season went on.
