Sutton Coldfield Town 1-0 Tamworth

The Post Lockdown Cup Semi Final was to be played between Sutton Coldfield Town Ladies Tamworth Women at Coles Lane. It was pouring down during the warm up’s but the game and the weather heated up by the time kick off came. The two teams took to the pitch with a minutes silence before the game. The two teams looking for a place in the final the following Sunday.

The game itself was a good battle between two teams really pushing each other. Sutton Coldfield were testing the Tamworth defence under some pressure. Niahm Deasy, Chloe Coldicott being in around the action alot but Emily Barnes was a stand out at the back for Tamworth but everyone played their part in making sure the game stayed level. Tamworth was proving even with the league difference that they were no pushovers with players such as Chloe Finn and Olivia Woolston pushing Tamworth forward that it kept Sutton Coldfield honest.

The half time whistle came with the score 0-0 with both teams trying to find the opening goal in the tie. substitutes can make a difference and this was prove when Tiara Hemans came on for Sutton Coldfield and with what seemed like her first touch she opened the scoring for her team to make it 1-0. This would be the deciding goal as both teams had chances and Ryan Hamilton’s team threw everything at Sutton Coldfield Town but couldn’t find a final touch to pull level. It was a great game for the neutral with Sutton Coldfield Town making the final but Tamworth proving they deserve and hopefully will be in the league above next season.

Sunday 23rd may the final is now Sutton Coldfield Town Vs Coventry Sphinx with a 2pm kick off and the third place/fourth place game will be between Tamworth Vs Crusaders will kick off Sunday also with a 10.30am. Good luck to all the teams playing at Lichfield City.
