Aston Villa 0-8 Man City

Villa 0-8 Man City

Conti Cup, Coles Lane 2/7/16

Goals : Parris (3), Middag, Ross (2), Corboz, Scott

A strange day for sure but as expected we might of been in for a long afternoon. But the referee giving away a soft penalty to begin with didn’t help things. Any plans we had to contain Man City were threw up in the air when a second penalty was given and Chloe Jones sent off. So 0-2 down with only 10 players, 10 international full time players. Things only seemed to get better when we lost our left back Hannah George to an injury. Man City showed their skill and class and why they have such an amazing attacking line. Also why they have one of the best defenses in the league as we managed one shot of notice when substitute Alys Hinchcliffe came off the bench to break through the Man City defense.

The fitness levels showed and also after playing Sunday and Tuesday that week took toll. Man City added goals making the scoreline quite one sided. But as always we chanted for our girls as we proud to be Villa Ladies fans. This season we have gone up against Chelsea and Man City which can only be a great learning experience for the future.

We play Durham next away who we have already beaten this season, so can hopefully get back on the wagon this sunday at 2pm. The start to push on the rest of the season.

Lucy Porter was one of the shining stars again starting at Right Back and filling in at Center Back. 180 minutes against Bristol and Man City on her comeback feel such alot to come from Lucy this second part of the season. Sarah Mayling would be my pick for POTM she did well filling in a defense and didn’t stop running or trying. Grace Moloney kept the score down with some fantastic saves as well.
