Aston Villa 0-2 Everton

Villa 0-2 Everton

17/05/16, WSL 2, Coles Lane

Goals : Hinnigan, Stewart

A night to forget would be the tagline. The first half we couldn’t get a foot on the ball or get anything going. Everton’s first goal was a volley from the edge of the box which crept into the bottom corner. Maybe the first goal was crucial as it seemed to show here as Everton controlled possession and the game. Cusack had an attempt but that was maybe the only real one of the first half.

Villa played alot better in the second half the introduction of Welsh almost paied off instantly as she had a shot saved. A scrappy second goal for Everton almost put the game to bed. Villa chased and played alot better in the second half but it just wasn’t meant to be. N’dow was outstanding again as Mark introduced his new “Boom, Pow”

Myers pulled off a cracking save to keep us in the game as well and couldn’t be faulted on the night, a great keeper that at times doesn’t seem to get the credit she deserves. Was amazing to see Porter back on the bench after injury looking forward to when she can be back on the pitch helping us pick up points.

Yeovil away 22nd becomes a huge game as we really need to pick up the 3 points away from home to keep pace with those up at the top. They are beatable and when we are on form we can beat anyone in the division.

Even in defeat we love our Villa Ladies and will continue to cheer and be proud of them at upcoming games hoping to help push them on for the rest of the season, after the mid season break.
