A midweek fixture for Leafield Athletic vs Solihull Moors meant a trip to Tally Ho on a nice evening for football. Both teams have had a good start to the season so far and would be looking to build on the start they have had.

The game got underway and it was clear to see from the early part of the game this was two evenly matched teams and it was going to be a battle on the pitch. But it was a wonder strike by Chloe Shirley that opened the scoring on the 18th minute and it struck the bar and into the net to give Leafield the early 1-0 lead.

The game was a real battle with both teams defending well and battling in the midfield but nethier team could really get the advantage and make it count as the game went into the half time break with Leafield leading 1-0.

The second half couldn’t of start any better for Aid Clements side as a mistake by the Solihull Moors keeper saw Leonie Joyce not need a second chance as she put the ball in the back of the net to give Leafield a 2-0 lead on the 51st minute.

But within in 6 minutes of doubling the lead we were back on level terms first with Solihull Moors scoring from a corner and then an unstoppable strike that left Colette Bell no chance in the goal. The goals from Cheyanne Jarvis and Lyndsey Ross-Baker saw the score at 2-2 on the 57th minute.

Both teams were looking for the winning goal with Colette Bell pulling off some fantastic saves which has become standard now for Colette. But also Leonie Joyce had a chance that the Solihull keeper had to pull off a smart save. Also a chance for Chloe Shirley who choose to try keep up Leonie Joyce rather than go for first time chip which could of sealed the game.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw which on the lay of the play was a fair result in gest as both teams had both played a part and had chances. Both teams defended well and put on a good show for the people watching. It was great to see Leafield as always of course and seeing Jenna Roberts is always a joy as well.

Leafield Athletic’s next game sees them take on Long Eaton in the Women’s FA Cup at Grange Park on the 23rd October.
