The 4th preseason game of the build up to the new season saw Birmingham City Women’s U21’s visit Dickens Heath Sports Centre. Set under the sun the game got underway and it was obviously going to be a tough game as both teams looked to find their feet. The opening goal of the game came from none other than Daisy Mai Clements. A beautifully worked goal saw a fantastic strike that left the goalkeeper no chance in the Birmingham goal as Leafield too the lead.

Leafield would look for the second goal and came so close again through Daisy Mai Clements at the back post but she couldn’t direct it into the back of the net. But as with football one team has a chance and doesn’t take it the other team make them pay. Birmingham pulled back a goal to make it 1-1. Both teams were going up against each other and showing some real fight in the middle. Charlotte Wilkie seemed to be all over the pitch throughout the first half.

Leafield retook the lead through Jess Lowe who has hit the ground running so far and looks a great player, her second goal in two games as well. Leafield would look to build on this but Birmingham hit back once again to pull the score level again at 2-2.

The second goal seemed to give Birmingham a real boost as they took over in the game, Leafield were still pushing but it was Birmingham that added a third goal not too long after the second goal which turned the game on it’s head. Birmingham added a fourth as well to give them the victory. It was great to see Molly Lemon settling into her new team, holding the ball up and setting up an assist or two as well. The game ended 2-4 to Birmingham.

An added bonus was getting to see Kelcie Fallon having  a run out as well. One of favourtie Villa Academy players and never lets down when see her play in the middle of the pitch. Wherever she ends up they will be lucky to have her in the team.

Leafield have two remaining friendlies before the start of the season with an away day to Boldmere on Tuesday and an away game to Worcester City on the 14th before the season starts on 21st at home to Leek Town.
